Foundational Safety Routines

• Is there a central, overnight charging station for all devices outside of bedrooms?
• Have we established at least one screen-free "sacred zone," like the dinner table or car?
• Do my children know they must get permission before downloading any new app?
• Is there a clear expectation that my children will respond to my calls or texts for safety reasons?

Device & Platform Setup (Review Quarterly)

• Have I activated built-in parental controls on their devices (e.g., iOS Family Sharing or Android Family Link)?
• Have I linked our accounts using platform-specific tools (e.g., Instagram Family Center, TikTok Family Pairing, Snapchat Family Center)?
• Are content filters activated to restrict mature or explicit content?
• Do I check the ratings and reviews for new games on a site like Common Sense Media before approving them?
• Have I taught my child how to use "report" and "block" functions as a tool of strength?

🚨 For Emergency Use: Crisis Monitoring Checklist

If you discover a major rule violation or are concerned for your child's immediate safety, ask these questions to assess the danger.

• Is my child in immediate physical danger?
• Are they in contact with someone who is grooming or exploiting them?
• Is there any evidence of plans to harm themselves or others?
• Is there evidence that dangerous real-world activity is being coordinated online?

If you check "yes" to any of these, call for professional help immediately (911, 988, or the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children).
